Most mainstream rappers are pretty darn stupid, but not because they like this movie. They were dumb before seeing Scarface, and are just as dumb after seeing it.

The reason they love Scarfce so much is because of (you guessed it) Tony. Rappers idolize Tony because he represents everything they want to be: rich, powerful, tough and feared. If that's what they want to be, fine. I'm in no position to tell anyone how to live their lives. However, some of the things they say in regards to this movie annoy the crap outta me. Like:

"Every mutha***ka in ***kin' America gots to have a mutha***kin' Scarface."

"N**ga, dat s**t was the ***in' bible!"

"Yeah, that s**t was gangsta. Call me Scarface, n**ga. HMPH!"

Those are all from the documentary on the DVD. I watch it for kicks, because those clowns make me laugh.

I'm assuming everyone in that documentary who wants to be like Tony turned the movie off before the final ten minutes, because only a fool would want to turn out like that. Tony is certainly a charismatic and likeable character, but it's a MOVIE. In real life, a person like him would be considered a complete loser, no matter how much money he attains. Plus, none of those rappers are as cool as Pacino. [[smile]]

On the other hand, rappers might argue that they would never make the mistakes Tony did, and would live the rest of their lives hassle-free and clear of life threatening situations. How naive. Forgive me for pointing out the obvious, but people who get arrested on drugs and murder don't WANT to be caught. Just because you say, "I'd never make a mistake like that," doesn't make you infallible.

In fewer words, if you try to base your life around a drug dealing scumbucket like Tony, you're an idiot. But... hey, live how you wanna live.
